10 Things Everybody Has To Say About Item Upgrading

World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as PvE damage and crit chance.

For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. They can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be applied to devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to a blue level before the component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may have a prefix or suffix that alters the name of the equipment with which it is applied (for instancefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of that equipment that require less Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.

A  boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense attributes of the weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher tier version of the item will be dropped in the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear, even if they are unsure what can be improved upon a reset.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be expensive, and there is a significant possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break when it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that double or even eliminate the chances of failure, as well as a few upgrades that give the benefit of being reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, and include any existing affixes. Glyphs are upgraded in a variety of ways, and we recommend getting them up to level 15 as soon as you can.

You'll often see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and offer an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the various Glyphs, and there are also a few rare glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs then you have to attach them to your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts the stats of a specific set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.

Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, which is why it is best to put Glyphs in key locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For example that a Druid should try to position their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, but you should also consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items lets players increase the stats of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is known as "upping". Every upgradeable item has an amount, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum level of 385. Each level requires a different number of components to reach and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets leveled up.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used to level up the item, and when enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player upgrades an item it is replaced with a different item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will become an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item will have its own set bonus. This could be a drawback since the item may increase in price even if you do not require it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll  item upgrades . The item will be replaced with an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This is useful for some items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it can use up lots of resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and allowing the player to customize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants an increase in power if the player continuously enters or exits the water. The item can be upgraded many times by increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is highly valuable in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of the unupgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The item upgrader allows players to increase the level of their equipment (armor, weapons, and trinkets) above ilvl385 by presenting the appropriate currency to the NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also increase the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each each time you upgrade an item it is given a chance to fail--the failure rate increases the farther you go over the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original state and the player having to purchase more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it gained, such as crit chance attack damage, additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time, or the speed of reloading). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item's definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero grade items are less expensive per upgrade.

Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. Regardless, the player must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. Each equipment upgrade requires different amounts of ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the cost mentioned above.
